New Orleans Yacht Club is very pleased to announce that it will again partner with Sails for Sustenance (http://sailsforsustenance.org/) for Mardi Gras Race Week 2015 as the primary charity according to Slavich. Guy Williams, President of Gulf Coast Bank is again the primary sponsor of MGRW and was the originator of the SFS/MGRW2014 partnership concept. He pointed out that it was so successful that we should collect the sails year round. He emphasized that those who did donate sails were pleasantly surprised at the amount of their tax benefit and the ease of making the donation. Jay Smith (jcarlylesmith@gmail.com cell #504-512-3481) will be facilitating the sail donations again this year. Slavich noted that last year the Haitians invited Jay and Guy down to Haiti to present the sails to the sustenance fisherman on Ile a Vache off the Haitian Southern Coast. He is hopeful that the Honorable Stephanie Villedrouin, Haitian Minister of Tourism, will be our guest of honor at MGRW 2015 along with personal appearances by Haitian born NFL players and other Haitian officials and celebrities.
