NOYC MEMBERSHIP AND DUES

Over the storied 72 year history of the New Orleans Yacht Club, thousands have walked through our doors and helped create one of the most successful yacht clubs on the Gulf Coast. This fine yacht club has an entire spectrum of people supporting the club’s social and sailing programs and who are always looking for new people who are interested in boating,  the sport of sailing and of course the grand and legendary parties afterwards.

The following classes of membership to NOYC are available:

HONORARY: Members may be admitted to membership by the Board of Directors for a period of one year and may be renewed each year thereafter. Such members need not pay dues, cannot vote and cannot hold office unless also listed under a membership, which is eligible to vote.

HONORARY-LIFE: Members may be elected by secret ballot at any General Membership meeting; and a two-thirds vote of those present is required for election. Such members shall be considered active members without paying dues. Only active or past active members shall be eligible for this class of membership.

LIFE: Members are those members who make a lump sum payment of twenty-five years Active membership dues in advance. They shall have full power to vote and hold office and must meet all qualifications for active membership. They shall also be admitted by the Board of Directors as prescribed herein.

ACTIVE: Members shall consist of persons, male or female, of responsibility and good character interested in the promotion of yachting, racing of water craft, seamanship, and other kindred matters and related activities for the good of the membership, community and state and be least twenty-six (26) years of age. Said members shall be admitted to membership by the Board of Directors as prescribed herein, and shall have full right to vote and hold office.

ASSOCIATE: Members shall consist of wives or husbands of active, life, honorary-life, honorary and intermediate members. Associate members shall not pay dues, nor can they vote or hold office. Widows or widowers of active, life, honorary-life, honorary and intermediate members may become active members by paying those amounts required under Article VI of the bylaws, except no entrance fee shall be required or they may retain the status of associate member by paying active dues less 50%.

NON-RESIDENT: Members may not reside within a seventy-five (75) mile radius of the domicile of the club and such membership must meet all qualifications for active membership and be admitted in a similar manner. They cannot vote or hold office.
