NOTICE OF RACE

  1. Organizing Authority South Shore Yacht Club, 21 Hawk St., New Orleans LA 70124 Co-Organizer: New Orleans Yacht Club, 403 N Roadway St., New Orleans, LA 70124.
  2. Sponsor The sponsor is the Sintes family in memory of their beloved Pamela Sintes. They are owners of Sintes Boat Works and Sea Chest Marine.
  3. Female Driver The helm must be controlled by a female from the prepatory signal to the finish of each race.
  4. Eligibility
    1. These races are open to all spinnaker and non-spinnaker boats. Yacht Club affiliation is not required.
    2. X-PHRF boats are allowed.
    3. A current GYA PHRF rating with certificate is required. Otherwise the Race Committee will assign a rating and dvision which will be accepted without protest. PHRF ratings may be obtained online at www.gya-phrf.com.
  5. Classes There are three PHRF divisions -- spinnaker, non-spinnaker, and cruising non-spinnaker. Each division maybe broken up into multiple classes depending on the number of boats registered.
  6. Registration and Fees
    1. Registration can be made online at noyc.org or at the skipper's meeting.
    2. There is no entry fee, however, all boats are requested to provide a used cell phone and a donation of $20 or more in a gift card or cash for Crescent House, a battered women's shelter.

  8. Special Non-Spinnaker and Cruising Non-Spinnaker Rules
    1. The distinction between non-spinnaker and cruising non-spinnaker is defined by the GYA at gya-phrf.com.
    2. Non-spinnaker boats may not carry a spinnaker as defined by RRS 50.4 or in Appendix B of the GYA PHRF Bylaws. Whisker poles are to be no longer than the yacht's spinnaker pole length (SPL), which is usually equal to the "J" measurement and found on the PHRF certificate. Whisker poles must follow RRS Rule 50.2.
  9. Racing Area The racing area will be located on the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain in the vicinity of the SYC "Z" mark. Fixed or temporary marks maybe used. Please have a chart of Racing Marks on board.
  10. Prizes Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be awarded for each class. The Pamela Sintes Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the winner of each division. In lieu of separate classes if the fleet is large additional trophies may be given for 4th or 5th place in a division.
