NOYC.org Message Board Policy

 

When using NOYC.org Message Boards, you should always carefully evaluate what you read and post. Most of what you see on this message board is regarding sailing, but filled with humor, sarcasm and is often just plain false.  This is not an official message board of NOYC, any Regatta or Race Committee, although they will make occasional posts to pass along information.   If you ever have any questions or comments about message board or would like a post deleted, please contact us here.

Be Careful What You Read

Information posted to or gathered from message boards should not be used as a substitute for independent research or thinking, It is very well possible, that what you are reading is a lie, sarcastic, exaggerated, not true or rumors. NOYC.org readers should do their homework and not believe anything they read on this message board.  As Ronald Reagan use to say “Trust but verify”, in the case of messages posted here, don't even trust.

Never assume people are who they say they are, know what they say they know, or are affiliated with whom they say they are affiliated.  A large portion of message board posters here, are not members of, or affiliated with New Orleans Yacht Club.  In fact, some have personal agendas that conflict with that of NOYC and would like to make our site and club look bad with tasteless posts. The posts on this message board are not supported by, nor are they the opinions of New Orleans Yacht Club, its Flag Officers, Board of Directors, Web Team, members or employees.  They are the comments, lies and opinions of only those people that make these posts. New Orleans Yacht Club & NOYC.org are not responsible for the accuracy of any information posted on this or any other message boards. Be Careful What You Post

NOYC.org takes user privacy very seriously and will take reasonable measures to respect your privacy if we desire. However, under special circumstances, such as to comply with subpoenas, legal obligations or our own agenda, we may provide personally identifiable information which may include IP addresses.

Some General Guidelines To Consider When Posting

  1. Do not post anonymously and then name real people in your posts.
  2. This is a boating related web page and topic content should be regarding such.
  3. Refrain from making objectionable comments regarding, race, religion or sexual preference.
  4. Do not post content that is obscene or otherwise objectionable.  
  5. Refrain from using these community services for commercial or advertising purposes.
  6. Don't post copyrighted content without permission from the owner.
  7. Please refrain from posting adult-oriented content that may make reference to sex or drugs.
  8. Show couth and decorum lets class the place up a bit.
  9. Refrain from using profanity or vulgarity, use your big words or keep it simple.
  10. Do not post under other peoples names, even if they are a public figure.
  11. Please avoid personal attacks, save them for in person.

Never assume that you are anonymous and cannot be identified by your messages.  Post as you please and remember that you will be held individually responsible for any libelous posts or slanderous comments made regarding such.
