NOYC MEMBERSHIP AND DUES
Membership Application
There shall be the following classes of membership:
HONORARY HONORARY-LIFE LIFE
ACTIVE ASSOCIATE NON-RESIDENT
INTERMEDIATE JUNIOR SENIOR
HONORARY members may be admitted to membership by the Board of Directors for a period of one year and may be renewed each year thereafter. Such members need not pay dues, cannot vote and cannot hold office unless also listed under a membership, which is eligible to vote.
HONORARY-LIFE members may be elected by secret ballot at any General Membership meeting; and a two-thirds vote of those present is required for election. Such members shall be considered active members without paying dues. Only active or past active members shall be eligible for this class of membership.
LIFE members are those members who make a lump sum payment of twenty-five years Active membership dues in advance. They shall have full power to vote and hold office and must meet all qualifications for active membership. They shall also be admitted by the Board of Directors as prescribed herein.
ACTIVE members shall consist of persons, male or female, of responsibility and good character interested in the promotion of yachting, racing of water craft, seamanship, and other kindred matters and related activities for the good of the membership, community and state at least twenty-six (26) years of age. Said members shall be admitted to membership by the Board of Directors as prescribed herein, and shall have full right to vote and hold office.
ASSOCIATE members shall consist of wives or husbands of active, life, honorary-life, honorary and intermediate members. Associate members shall not pay dues, nor can they vote or hold office. Widows or widowers of active, life, honorary-life, honorary and intermediate members may become active members by paying those amounts required under Article VI, except no entrance fee shall be required or they may retain the status of associate member by paying active dues less 50%.
NON-RESIDENT members may not reside within a seventy-five (75) mile radius of the domicile of the club and such membership must meet all qualifications for active membership and be admitted in a similar manner. They cannot vote or hold office.
INTERMEDIATE members shall consist of persons, male or female, of responsibility and good character interested in the promotion of yachting, racing of water craft, seamanship, and other kindred matters and related activities for the good of the membership, community and state, 18 to 26 years of age. Such members cannot vote or hold office. They shall be admitted by the Board of Directors.
JUNIOR-CLASS A members shall consist of children under eighteen years of age of active, life, honorary-life, honorary and intermediate members.
JUNIOR-CLASS B members shall consist of persons of good character interested in the promotion of yachting, racing of water craft, seamanship and other kindred matters and related activities for the good of the membership, community and state, eight (8) to eighteen (18) years of age.
Junior members, Class "A" and "B", shall have no right to vote nor hold office and shall be admitted by the Board of Directors.
SENIOR members shall consist of those members who have reached sixty-two (62) years of age and who have been an active member for a minimum of fifteen (15) years and who choose to change their status to that of Senior member. Such members shall be considered Active members paying Senior dues.
All applications of membership shall be endorsed by one member in "good standing" and must receive the vote of at least seven (7) members of the Board of Directors at a regular or called meeting before admittance.
Members whose applications were not approved within twenty (20) days of an election cannot vote in same.
All classes of membership in "good standing" shall be permitted to fly the Burgee of the Club.
All classes of membership in "good standing" shall have clubhouse privileges.
A member shall be deemed in "good standing" if he has not become delinquent (Arrears in dues, assessments or club bills over thirty (30) days), or is not on suspension.
ENTRANCE FEE, DUES, ASSESSMENTS AND MONEY ON DEPOSIT
All dues shall be payable in advance when due. Dues are due on the first day of each month.
Monthly dues for the following membership categories shall be:
Active $55.00
Associate $20.00
Non-Resident $22.00
Intermediate $12.00
Junior A $ 0.00
Junior B $ 5.00
Senior $17.00
Special Collegiate $10.00
An entrance fee is to be paid by new members in the following categories and amounts:
Active $500.00
Non-Resident $200.00
Intermediate $100.00
Junior $ 50.00
Special Collegiate $ 50.00
Money on Deposit required for Active, Senior, and voting Honorary-Life members prior to June 7, 1988 in the amount of $500.00 shall remain on deposit for the duration of those memberships. After the Money on Deposit has been held by the club for one (1) year, it shall be refundable, less amounts owed to the club, within thirty (30) days after the meeting of the Board of Directors which receives a resignation or recognizes the termination of membership of a person affected by the above provision.
A Junior member having a parent who is an active member does not pay dues nor an entrance fee.
Upon becoming of age and after one year as a Junior member such member in "good standing" may transfer to Intermediate membership without payment of an entrance fee. Upon becoming of age without having been a Junior member for one year such member in "good standing" may transfer to Intermediate membership upon the payment of a $50.00 entrance fee.
An Intermediate member having a parent who is an active member does not pay an entrance fee.
Upon becoming of age and after one year as an Intermediate member such member in "good standing" may transfer to Active membership upon payment of a $100.00 entrance fee.
Members may transfer from one class of membership to another provided they meet all requirements of the new class of membership. All transfers in membership must take place when dues are due.
Dues for applicants approved within any month will become due on the first day of the following month.
No member can be assessed an amount greater than his annual dues in any one administrative year and such assessments are to be made only by a two-thirds vote of those present at any General Membership meeting. The Membership must be notified by mail of the proposed assessment, due date and meeting at least twenty days prior.
No member shall be allowed to charge to his/her account in excess of $500.00 at any one time without the approval of the Board of Directors. Members shall be considered delinquent if all dues, assessments and club bills are not paid within one month of the due date. Ten days after being notified by registered mail a delinquent member may be expelled from membership by the Board of Directors at any future Board meeting unless all dues, assessments and club bills are paid. Six months after a due date a member shall be automatically dropped from membership if all dues, assessments and club bills are not paid in full. In order for a member who has become delinquent to become a member in good standing; he must remit payment for all outstanding debts for which he has been billed.
