2 RULES

1.1 This regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by The Racing Rules of Sailing

2009-2012 (RRS).

 

1.2 RRS 63.7 will be replaced by: “If there is a conflict between a rule in the Notice of

Race and a rule in the Sailing Instructions, the rule in the Sailing Instructions and any amendments shall take

precedence”.

 

3 ADVERTISINGAdvertising will not be restricted per ISAF Regulation 20.5.3 (a).

 

4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

4.1 The purpose of this regatta it to provide means for a family to compete in a fun way.  Family members

must share the same set of grandparents plus spouses. Example: Jackie Tonguis plus children and spouses

 plus grandchildren can all sail on the same team. Boat owners are exempt from the family rule.

4.2 Entry fee is $25 per team 

4.3 Classes will be based on the number of family members sailing. See the table below.

4.4 If crew count is 4 or more, 2 families are allowed. Where crew count is 7 or more three families are allowed.

 

4.5 PHRF Credits to promote multigenerational, women and children attendance will be awarded as follows:

 

+ 12 seconds per mile if 3 generations sail

+ 6 seconds per mile for each child

+3 seconds per mile for each women sailor

 

All PHRF credits shall be reported to the Race Committee desk 30 minutes prior to the Skippers meeting.

 

5 SCHEDULEOF EVENTS

 

SATURDAY May 19th, 2012

1100 Skipper’s Meeting

1200 Warning Signal for single race

1500 Raft up offshore. Families who choose to sail vs. race are encouraged to join.

1800 Family oriented party immediately following the raft up.

 

6 RACING AREA- The racing area will be located on the South Shore of Lake Pontchartrain near the Municipal Yacht Harbor. Channel entrance.

 

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS - Sailing Instructions will be posted online at http://noyc.org/

and available at regatta check in.

 

8 ARBITRATION - For protests involving the rules of RRS Part 2 or RRS 31, an arbitration meeting may be held prior to the protest hearing.

 

9 SCORINGA single race will be scheduled.

 

10 PRIZES - First through third overall for 7 classes (Spin and Non-Spin divisions)

 

Other innovative prizes will be presented.
